About Us

Mossy Rock Productions is Ben Nixon's multi-faceted sound engineering company.  In establishing Mossy Rock Productions, Ben has broadened his vision and expanded his clientele, enabling him to work full time as a sound engineer and producer.

Ben Nixon is a studio and live sound enthusiast based in Nelson, BC.  He graduated from the Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College with a diploma in Music Production and a major in electric bass.  Although Ben’s main focus is on studio production, he works steadily as a live sound tech in Nelson, including a two-year stint as the in-house tech at Finley's Irish Bar & Grill.  He has also done shows at a variety of local venues including the Capitol Theatre, the Royal, the United Church and Studio 80.

Already in high demand by his peers and local community, Ben has been involved in a number of noteworthy projects.  These include
Miss Quincy's "Your Mama Don't Like Me", the Selkirk College faculty's "Souvenir", Locomotive Ghost's self-titled debut, Nicole Byblow's forthcoming "All The White Key's EP", and Dominique Fraissard's forthcoming album.  Ben has also worked live sound at high-profile shows for touring artists including Freestylers, Mr. Something Something, Kinnie Starr, Five Alarm Funk, Kid Koala, and Eric Solomon.  His greatest accomplishment is his ability to instill confidence and trust in the acts he works with, which has made him a favourite sound technician of some of Nelson’s busiest acts.
